Michelle grew up in church. She never missed an opportunity to go. She knew everything there was to know about God. The problem was, she did not have a relationship with God. That's where she went wrong. Michelle struggled with self-image from an early age when she developed acne. She never felt loved, because she didn't feel beautiful. Therefore she became depressed and hated her life. It wasn't until her sophomore year of high school, that Michelle realized that she needed God in her life to truly find joy and beauty in life. On her Spring Break she went on a mission trip to Honduras. It was here that she saw orphans praising God despite the fact that they had nothing. It was here that God began to radically change Michelle's heart, eyes and life. When Michelle allowed herself to see things through God's eyes, she saw that everything is beautiful, not just the women who wear a size 0 or the photo shopped people in magazines. She was beautiful because she was God's creation. Michelle's life has never been the same since. Does she love looking in the mirror now? Not exactly...but when she is tempted to think thoughts that would tell her she is ugly or unloved, she reminds herself that God says different, and God is the Father of truth.
Psalm 45:11 " For the King is enthralled by your beauty, honor Him for He is your Lord". Psalm 139:14 " ... I am fearfully and wonderfully made". Song of Solomon 4:7 " You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you".
